    1947

    1960’s

The demand for affordable lift solutions to improve accessibility in private homes and residential buildings increased in Sweden. In the mid-1960s, Cibes launched a hydraulic platform lift for housing adaptation. The lift was installed outdoors in stairwells and in entrances.

The founder of Cibes

Bertil Svedberg, born in 1916 in Njurunda, about 350 km north of Stockholm, Sweden obtained his bachelor’s degree in 1935 in Härnösand. He then moved to Stockholm to study engineering at the Royal Institute of Technology, earning his Master of Science in Engineering in 1942. He began his career at a leading engineering company in pumping and heating technology. Inspired by this innovative environment, Svedberg founded Elektroborg AB. Within Elektroborg AB, Bertil founded the brand Cibes. Bertil was active in the company for almost 40 years before his retirement.

Evolving product offer

The first products that Cibes developed were lifting equipment and goods lifts. Over time, focus shifted towards accessibility and passenger lifts, and a unique modular lift concept was developed. Our current products offer and lifts are lifestyle products designed for a variety of customers. Our lift concept is not only space-efficient but also allows our lifts to be installed in just a few days with minimal structural impact.
