The 2024 Sustainability Report is out – Main takeaways
Sustainability is deeply integrated into the operations and growth of Cibes Lift Group. In 2024, the company group made meaningful progress in workplace safety, environmental performance, and responsible business practices.
Improved workplace safety
Lost time injuries* decreased by 30% in 2024, which is an even more impressive result, as the total number of working hours was higher in 2024 than in the previous year. The improvement reflects stronger risk awareness, quicker follow-ups, and a growing commitment to safety across the organization. Cibes Lift Group also achieved the best-ever results in key safety indicators, showing that the proactive approach is working.
Environmental performance
While the total of direct emissions increased in 2024, primarily due to new U.S. acquisitions and a new factory in Poland, the emissions from raw materials – especially aluminium from China – fell notably, reducing the overall carbon footprint of Cibes Lift Group.
Production waste dropped by over 200 tonnes compared to 2023, while the recycling rate increased from 51% to 70% driven by improved sorting and reuse practices. A key environmental milestone was the ISO 14001 certification of the Gävle production unit, reflecting the company’s alignment with international environmental standards.
Great focus on business ethics
Cibes Lift Group continued to promote ethical business by expanding the Code of Conduct program. In 2024, 100% of the suppliers in China signed the Code, and there was also a strong progress in Sweden and the US, achieving supplier signatures covering 96% and 97% of the purchasing value respectively. Polish operations reported for the first time and 69% of the suppliers have now signed the Code of Conduct, representing 84% of the purchasing value. In 2024 the signing requirement was also extended to encompass the suppliers of the sales entities within the company group.
Looking towards the future
In preparation for the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), a double materiality assessment was conducted, based on the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). This assessment will help Cibes Lift Group prioritize what topics are the most critical in terms of business, society and planet.
